PETA distributes condoms to recreational hunters
PETA is also campaigning against hunting in this country. German hunters kill more than five million wild animals as well as several hundred thousand dogs and cats nationwide every year, primarily as a leisure activity. In search of a special thrill, an estimated 50,000 Germans travel abroad each year to go big-game hunting, according to a media report.
Recently, outdoor shows, hunting clubs, and trophy hunters in the USA such as Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump received free condoms of the brand Huntsman Condoms.
The contraceptive in camouflage packaging advertises “safety without compromise when it comes to pleasure and performance.” As seen in the reveal video, the American recreational hunting community was thrilled and will likely be more than surprised to learn the true source of the condoms: PETA USA. The animal rights organisation’s message at the end of the video is clear: “So, recreational hunters: F*** each other all you like, but DON’T F*** NATURE.”
“If our condoms have prevented the birth of even a single recreational hunter, we will have already saved animal lives,” said PETA USA president Ingrid Newkirk.
PETA USA distributed the condoms with the goal of encouraging recreational hunters not to reproduce further. In the USA, the number of recreational hunters has already declined significantly, with the majority today being middle-aged or older men. With this campaign, PETA USA wanted to accelerate this trend a little further. The animal rights organisation points out that recreational hunters kill millions of animals year after year and cause unspeakable pain and suffering cause. Countless animals are not killed immediately by hunters, but are “merely” wounded and then die a slow, cruel death from blood loss or starvation. Lion Cecil, for example, was struck by an American dentist with a steel arrow in July 2015 and only killed 40 agonizing hours later. The Trump brothers Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump were also spotted killing leopards, water buffalo, and elephants in Zimbabwe, drawing the attention of PETA USA.
