Farmer sells out of fear of the wolf

Ten wolf kills in the immediate vicinity are enough for farmer Werner Etzel from Wehrheim in the Taunus region: «I will sell my cattle one by one. I do not want them to be killed by a wolf.» There are currently around 25 wolves in Hesse.

Herd protection instead of giving up

Etzel is himself a hobby hunter and has been running the farm for seven generations. Recreational hunting fails as a population control measure. Professional herd protection has demonstrably proven successful in Switzerland. More on the topic of wolf protection and hunting legislation.
