Bullfighting could soon be banned in Colombia
The Colombian Senate approved a nationwide ban on bullfighting. Bullfights have already been banned in Barcelona and Mexico City as well.
The bloody tradition has suffered setbacks worldwide in recent years. The Colombian Senate approved a nationwide ban in December 2022. 85 percent of Colombians expressed support for a ban in a survey.
250’000 bulls killed annually
There are only eight countries worldwide where bullfights still take place. Approximately 250’000 bulls are killed at bullfights each year, according to Humane Society International.
