Animals as Trophies: The Horror Show in Dortmund

On 23 June 2023, the Italian media company Kodami published a video of its independent undercover investigation at "Jagd & Hund", Europe's largest hunting trade fair, held from 24 to 29 January in Dortmund, offering yet another shocking glimpse behind the scenes of an industry currently under intense political scrutiny across Europe, as several member states consider banning the trophy trade.

Europe's largest hunting trade fair takes place every year in Dortmund. Kodami investigated how trophy hunts are marketed. Children are frequently present and featured in promotional materials. The killing of animals for pleasure is normalised for children.

Up to 65’000 dollars for a lion
