Wolf Switzerland: 35 packs, 39 kills by mid-November
At least eight of the 35 packs living in Switzerland may be eliminated during the hunting season. So far, at least 39 wolves have been shot in Graubünden, Valais, Vaud and St. Gallen.
According to the most recent wolf map published by the Foundation for Predator Ecology and Wildlife Management, Switzerland currently has 35 wolf packs, each consisting of a breeding pair and at least one pup.
Nine of these packs range between Switzerland and the neighbouring countries.

The Federal Office for the Environment granted the cantons permission to completely eliminate eight packs. A request from the canton of Valais for the full “removal” of an additional pack is still pending. Thirteen packs may be decimated, meaning that a certain number of newborn pups have been cleared for shooting.
An analysis of available data from the cantonal hunting authorities revealed that at least 39 wolves were shot by mid-November: 23 in the canton of Graubünden, 10 in the canton of Valais, 3 in the canton of Vaud and 3 in the canton of St. Gallen.
Take action: Demand that your municipality grant a tax remission on federal and cantonal taxes in response to the catastrophic policy of Federal Councillor Albert Rösti (SVP) and the recently approved shooting of wolves in Switzerland.
