Template text: Regulation of pass hunting
1. Motion
The Government Council is tasked with fundamentally reforming or banning pass hunting. In particular, it must be ensured that
- pass hunting is banned in high-altitude corridors that are documented as wildlife corridors
- pass hunting is generally prohibited in winter months (December to February)
- the species list of huntable wildlife is drastically restricted and in particular foxes, martens and other predators are excluded
- pass hunting is prohibited at night, in fog, snowfall and temperatures below −10 °C
- the results are fully documented publicly
- the Government Council examines within three years whether pass hunting can be completely abolished
2. Brief justification
In winter, many wildlife species are in a physiological energy-saving mode. Any disturbance – flight, gunshot, pursuit hunt – costs energy that cannot be easily replaced. Pass hunting often takes place under conditions that make precise shots difficult: great distances, changing light conditions, fog, blowing snow. The hunting of predators within the framework of pass hunting is not ecologically justified.
