Partial Revision of the Hunting Ordinance

On 2 June 2023, the Federal Council, through the partial revision of the Hunting Ordinance, eased the culling of wolves. Approximately 250 wolves and 26 packs currently live in Switzerland.

Damage Thresholds Lowered

The damage threshold for individual wolves has been reduced from 10 to 6 livestock kills. For packs, cantons may apply to the FOEN for regulated culls from 8 instead of 10 kills. Hobby hunters fail as a population control measure. More on the topic of herd protection and wolf protection.
