(IG Wild beim Wild)

headquartered in Acquarossa, Canton Ticino, Switzerland

Preamble

The Interessengemeinschaft Wild beim Wild (hereinafter «IG») is an independent animal rights movement, founded on 11 June 2015 in Switzerland. It advocates for the protection of wildlife and farm animals, the abolition of hobby hunting and a contemporary, scientifically grounded wildlife management approach.

The IG is committed to non-violence as a guiding principle and is oriented around the maxim: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

These statutes set down in writing for the first time the principles that have been in effect since the founding on 11 June 2015.

I. General Provisions

Art. 1 – Name and Legal Form

Under the name «IG Wild beim Wild», there exists a community of interest in the form of a private-law association without profit motive. The IG is not a legal entity within the meaning of the Swiss Civil Code (ZGB), but rather a loose association of individuals.

Art. 2 – Registered Office

The IG has its registered office in Acquarossa, Canton Ticino, Switzerland. The postal address is: IG Wild beim Wild, P.O. Box 120, 6716 Acquarossa.

Art. 3 – Purpose

The IG pursues exclusively charitable and idealistic purposes, in particular:

  • The abolition of hobby hunting and the introduction of professional wildlife management based on the model of Canton Geneva
  • The protection of wildlife and their habitats
  • The protection of farm animals from governmental failure, particularly in cases of inadequate herd protection
  • The education and enlightenment of the public about wildlife and hobby hunting
  • The promotion of sustainable practices in agriculture and forestry
  • The support of scientific methods of immunocontraception as an alternative to lethal population control
  • The promotion of animal rights for wildlife
  • Cooperation with animal and nature conservation organisations, politicians, and authorities
  • The enforcement of animal protection law through legal means, including criminal complaints

Art. 4 – Scope of Activity

The IG is active in Switzerland, the DACH region, and internationally.

Art. 5 – Demarcation

As a matter of principle, the IG does not cooperate with hunting clubs, the Swiss Hunting Association (Verband Jagd Schweiz), or hunting-affiliated organisations.

II. Leadership and Organisation

Art. 6 – Leadership

The IG is led by its founder and director, Carl Sonnthal. The director represents the IG externally, determines the strategic direction, and is responsible for all operational decisions.

Art. 7 – Contributors

The IG works with external specialists, including wildlife biologists, lawyers, and journalists.Activists can participate without formal membership.

Art. 8 – Legal Department

The IG maintains a legal department that files criminal complaints and supports legal proceedings for the protection of wild and farm animals.

III. Activities

Art. 9 – Areas of Activity

The IG carries out the following activities in particular:

Art. 10 – Editorial Principles

The IG draws a clear distinction between fact-checks, analyses/dossiers, and commentaries/campaigns. Errors are corrected upon discovery and transparently noted. Where the body of research is limited, this is communicated openly.

IV. Finances and Independence

Art. 11 – Voluntary Work

The IG is a voluntarily run information and campaign platform. All activities are carried out on an unpaid basis.

Art. 12 – Funding

The IG does not accept donations directly. Those who wish to financially support animal welfare work donate directly to the non-profit foundation Tiere in Not – Animal Help (STINAH), which funds political and legal work, among other things.

Art. 13 – Independence

The IG receives no funding from hunting associations, the weapons industry, government bodies, or political parties. No advertisements are placed. This independence is a prerequisite for critical reporting.

V. Positions

Art. 14 – Recreational Hunting and Animal Protection Law

Recreational hunting contradicts an enlightened, scientific, and ethical understanding of nature and animals. Wild animals are sentient beings with social structures, the capacity to feel pain, and stress responses. The IG documents how recreational hunting systematically undermines the principles of the Swiss Animal Welfare Act (TSchG).

Art. 15 – Speciesism

The IG advocates against speciesism in the sense of Peter Singer and demands that the arbitrary discrimination against animals based on their species or origin is no longer accepted in a civilized society.

Art. 16 – Non-violence

Non-violence distinguishes the civilized human being from the predator in the animal world. The leisure-motivated injuring and killing of wild animals normalizes behaviors that must be eliminated in interpersonal relations.

Art. 17 – Children's Rights and Hobby Hunting

The IG opposes the passive and active participation of children and adolescents in hobby hunting. Minors must be protected from the harmful effects of violence, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

VI. Final Provisions

Art. 18 – Web Presence

The IG operates the website wildbeimwild.com as the central platform for research, dossiers, campaigns, and petitions.

Art. 19 – Amendment of the Statutes

The director of the IG may amend or supplement these statutes at any time.

Art. 20 – Dissolution

The IG may be dissolved by resolution of the director. In the event of dissolution, any assets will be transferred to a non-profit organization with a comparable purpose.

Art. 21 – Entry into Force

These statutes enter into force upon publication on wildbeimwild.com.
