Once Again, a Deranged Hobby Hunter Shoots a Horse
In Rhineland-Palatinate, a hobby hunter shot a 14-year-old mare in its paddock. A post-mortem examination confirmed the gunshot wound as the cause of death.
The cause of death was a gunshot
On the morning of 22 January 2023, the owner of a 14-year-old mare found his horse dead in the paddock in Hermersberg (Rhineland-Palatinate). The animal showed a circular wound in the back area. The cause of death was injuries inflicted by a gunshot.
The police investigation ultimately led to a 33-year-old visiting hunter from North Rhine-Westphalia, who admitted to having fired the shot by mistake. The hobby hunter did not even see fit to search for the animal after firing the shot.
Investigation for criminal damage
